The Times targets amateur photographers
Amateur photographers have until tomorrow to submit images for a competition, the winner of which will feature in a London-wide advertising campaign launched by newspaper. Organisers say they are looking for striking images that ‘reflect our times and tell us something about the world in which we live’. The winner will be given the opportunity to accompany a photographer on a one-day assignment and receive a 12x16in print of their entry. Copyright remains with entrants, though organisers point out that their photo may be used for future publicity purposes. The closing date is 6pm on

Met police take over В‘MI6′ camera probe (update)
Police have stepped up their investigation into how a camera, reported to contain sensitive information and images relating to terror suspects, ended up on eBay. The Metropolitan Police, Britain’s biggest police force, has taken over the investigation from Hertfordshire Police which originally handled the case. ‘We can confirm that Hertfordshire Police has passed the information to us which is being investigated,’ a Met spokesman told this afternoon.
